Thank you Craig, Tom and Rob for all you work. I had a great time making history with all the velomobile riders. Twenty-five North American velos at one location. The bar has been raised. Let's see what the east coast people can do!

P.S. There were a pair of tights or sweat pants left behind:
Please identify to claim them.

Hi Doug,

Due to the velomobile event on Friday late afternoon, I will most likely be at PIR closer to 6:00pm

Do you have a Gate Pass for Friday? If you need one email me at billbates (at) gmail.com I can send you a .pdf file to be printed. Otherwise I'll have some extra with me.

Greetings: I wish all of you much enjoyment and success with your LCVMG! I am a recent Oregon resident who has never actually seen a velomobile in real life. I believe in the concept and have read extensively about them. I am most interested in a practical tandem design as my wife is blind (and very strong) and there is absolutely zero chance of my buying or building a velomobile just for myself! I would like to visit the gathering during your Saturday 'Meet and Greet' just to see the machines up close. Actually test riding one wouldn't even be in my plans although it would be great if my wife could actually sit in one because she is used to our DF tandem and the whole idea of the recumbent sitting position seems odd to her. Questions: is the 'gathering' open to the general public? I think it would be great PR for the 'movement' if it were. Second, is there some sort of reduced admission for someone who doesn't intend to watch any of the races or participate in the program in any way. $25 each for my wife and I is a little steep just to stop by for a little while to visit with these wonderful machines. Any thoughts? TIA!

Excellent information. Bill I will plan to meet up with you at PIR on Friday to set up camp. I will target 4PM and hopefully we can enter within the 5 - 6PM window like last year.

@Doug,

In years past we have been able to access the PIR track on Friday late afternoon. Last year to get in PIR free on Friday we had to enter between 5-6:00pm. Otherwise we would be charged the entry fee for the race event that afternoon/evening. I would suggest doing the same this year since there is the Lotus Club event from 8:00am to 5:00pm. If I recall PIR gates are closed and locked after 6:00pm on Friday. A bike may be able to leave but a motor vehicle can't. I'm going to be there on Friday to set up my camp site. You can look for me. I drive a Ford Taurus and will have both my velomobile and tilting trike with me. If you wish you could show up on Saturday to camp. It might be a little hectic getting setup and doing registration with the events underway. Camping is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Monday we have to vacate around noon if I recall. Have a look at the map on this page:

http://www.portlandraceway.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25&Itemid=45

We camp over by the grassy area to the right of the motor cross track. You are correct on your assumption about dogs. I've taken mine every year and haven't had any problems.

If you have any further questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them for you. Questions posted to the OHPV forums will be answered also.

Hi, Doug: Bill Bates will have the more definitive answer to your question, but I do believe that there may be a way to stay at PIR on Friday evening. We will also have to check with him about the dog situation, but I remember that last year, his pooch attended in the trailer behind his WAW.

I'll drop him a note to check in here to provide more expert advice.

See you soon,

Just one more week!

My assumption is that camping set up will take place after registration on Saturday morning, with camping available on Saturday and Sunday night at the track. Is this about right? :-) Anyone camping on Friday night? Assume dogs are okay at the camping site and at the track if properly restrained and supervised. Thanks!

I just found out about the Princesses and the TV spot (via Facebook, oddly enough) - Awesome! I'm there. Velo #3 is unlikely to be finished by then, but velo #2 is in the paint shop. Reassemble and it's done. I don't yet have a pilot for it at the event.

Howdy Craig / Bill:

Doug down here in Denver, CO. I plan on attending, arriving in town on Friday most likely. Steve from Velomobiles.ca will be bringing down an additional Borealis which I have ordered. So, I really look forward to touring the area with you gents. I still hope to have materials and a short presentation available regarding a velomobile industry association kickoff if that is possible during lunch time on Sat or Sun.

Cheers!
